This was our trusty Zodiac that took us on our snorkeling adventure. And what an adventure it was! There were seven of us, plus three crew, on this open air motorized raft, braving big (I’m tempted to say giant) swells and waves and water splashing us in the face, as we headed out into the ocean to snorkel in water that was about 30 feet deep. I might also add that it was pouring rain that morning but thankfully let up for our boat trip. Keep in mind that Jane had never even swum in the ocean (she’s not comfortable with waves!) until a couple of days before this when she snorkeled a bit and did a little bit of boogie boarding in the gentle waves of Ke’e beach in the north. She was a rock star! I, on the other hand, was a nervous wreck! Thankfully Matt was Jane’s excellent trip “buddy” and kept her warm and safe on the boat and also snorkeled at her side in the water. As I mentioned, we saw loads of fish and a few sea turtles. We also got to swing by Spouting Horn and view it from the ocean, as well as another blow hole called The Chimney. At the end of our “three hour tour” we also got so see the lagoon where some of Gilligan’s Island (among other shows) was filmed. I don’t have any other photos from the trip because we had to put our phones in a dry box for the very wet ride (and also hang on for dear life), but the crew took a couple of group shots on our friend’s phone so if I get those I’ll post them.
