A few pics that were posted on the school website from the first week of Kindergarten! And here’s what the teachers had to say about the week: The first week, much like the entire year is filled with exploration,
making friends, and feeling comfortable here at school. We will be
going over routines, playing get to know you games, and exploring our
classroom and school. The first day was off to a great start! We
played ice-breaker games, read a funny book, and had a great discussion
about how we were feeling on our first day! The children expressed the
many emotions they were going through and we made a list of words
that describe our feelings. We felt happy, nervous, excited, scared,
and sweaty. These were just some of the words to describe our first day
feelings. After having snack, the children played on our yard! Some
were in the lawn playing football with Coach Ryan! while others were
playing on the structure doing an obstacle course. Children were in the
sandbox, small yard (playing with the blue blocks), riding our spinning
cone, and riding bikes. You can ask your child what they like to do on
their new yard! The rest of the week will be filled with more games,
routines, and we will introduce our centers. Centers give the children
an opportunity to explore our classroom and materials. Our centers
consist of: The Kids Work Shop, Building Center, Library, Game Center,
and Kitchen. When centers are open your children will have the freedom
to engage in many different activities pertaining to what they like to
do! For example, in the kitchen we will be making smoothies and in the
workshop we will be using markers and watercolors. This week we will
also go over our classroom charter which helps us accomplish our goals
for the year! These are similar to rules, but focus more on the
feelings and emotions we want to achieve while at school! As you can
see there is lots going on in the first week of Kindergarten! Please
check back on Friday to see lots of great pictures of your child’s first
week.
